So after the death of my grandfather last year, this summer break I decided to visit his old town in England. Hastings is a seaside town and borough in East Sussex on the south coast of England, 24 mi (39 km) east of the county town of Lewes and 53 mi (85 km) southeast of London. The town gives its name to the Battle of Hastings, which took place 8 mi (13 km) to the northwest at Senlac Hill in 1066. It used to be a famous seaside resort which makes it a very tempting place to visit.

Also having a great history, its festivals are also very attractive for visiting. As I landed at London Southend Airport I was a bit tense and nervous. Tensed because my flight got delayed due to bad weather and nervous because I was visiting my dear late grandfather's birthplace. As I checked the distance from Southend airport to Hastings is almost 80 miles which is a two-hour drive. I got a coffee for myself from the airport cafeteria while having coffee, I checked on google about cab services. On the first page, I saw company name as I checked more details, customer’s reviews were very good. So I got their number from their website, called them and booked a cab for myself. After just a few moments the driver was there. The car was in good shape and its driver was very friendly.

As I told him that I’m coming from America to visit Hastings because it's my grandfather's birthplace. He got very excited and told me that he himself is from Hastings. He told me great things about Hastings. He told me very excitedly that it's a good time to visit hasting because Jack in the Green festival is going on these days. So there must be great festivities going on.

As we were passing through the Hastings town area a joint mermaid was passing through Hastings old town. Driver by the way his name was Bob told me everything about the great traditions of hasting. He also invited me to dinner at his place in Hastings for the weekend which I happily accepted. I want to thank the company and especially the driver for making the start of my journey so memorable.
